Therapy for Domestic Violence

Support for those who have spent years adjusting to someone else's moods, needs, and control.

Therapy can be a place to start figuring out what you need, what you want, and what life looks like when your decisions belong to you again.

You might recognize yourself in one of these places.

You don't have to be at a particular point in your story to seek therapy.

Still in the relationship

Dealing with a partner who needs control

Maybe you're still trying to make sense of what's happening in your relationship.

You may find yourself questioning your own judgment, walking on eggshells, or constantly trying to anticipate your partner's reactions.

You don't have to make a decision about your relationship before you come to therapy.

Therapy can give you a private space to understand what's happening, reconnect with your own perspective, and begin thinking about what you need.

Recently out

Leaving a relationship doesn't necessarily mean you immediately feel free from it.

You may be out of the relationship, but still carrying the fear, self-doubt, or confusion that came with it.

We can work on rebuilding your confidence, your boundaries, and your trust in your own decisions—while making space for everything you're processing now.

Years later, but it still follows you

Sometimes years can pass and the relationship is still affecting how you move through the world.

You may find yourself struggling to trust people, questioning yourself in relationships, or reacting strongly to situations that remind you of what you experienced.

Being safe now and feeling safe are not always the same thing.

Therapy can help you understand what you're carrying and work toward feeling more grounded, confident, and present in your life today.

My approach is personal to you.

I don't believe in giving every person the same treatment plan.

I create an individualized treatment approach based on your experiences, your needs, and what you want to change and work on.

I'm a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and I have particular experience working with people who have experienced narcissistic abuse, coercive control and other forms of controlling or emotionally abusive relationships.

We start where you are—not where you think you should be, all from the comfort of your home.

What sessions can look like

Each session is done online through HIPPAA-complaint software. Your information is safe. And you get to work through your past in an environment that feels safe.

We'll talk about what you're experiencing, what you want help with, and what feels manageable for you.

Depending on your needs, I may use EMDR, talk therapy, cognitive therapy and other evidence-based trauma approaches.

Some sessions may focus on processing what happened. Others may focus on boundaries, self-trust, relationships, emotional responses, or simply understanding yourself better.

There is no requirement to have everything figured out before you begin.

What can therapy help you rebuild?

Your sense of yourself.

Your ability to trust your own judgment.

Your confidence in setting boundaries.

Your ability to recognize what feels healthy and safe.

Your sense of choice in your own life.

The goal isn't to become who you were before the relationship. It's to feel more like yourself again.
